Flawless Preseason game? Deepest D-Line in the league?

Image
On Saturday 8/12, the Jets dismantled the Panthers winning 23-0.  Yes, it was only a preseason game but this is one of the most one-sided preseason games in recent memory, with the Jets putting up 333 yards of total offense compared to the Panthers' 165 yards and winning the turnover battle 2-1.  This is even more impressive when you consider the Jets didn't play many defensive starters as well as star offensive players Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson. At the same time, the Panthers started first-overall pick Bryce Young and many offensive starters.  Let's break it all down and then go over some key takeaways, starting with the three key players we highlighted before the game. Highlighted Players Mekhi Becton :  Everyone is watching Mekhi's every move.  From Jet fans to Twitter doctors, the 340-pound tackle is constantly under scrutiny.  The big thing with Mekhi is that he hasn't played a full football game in over two years, suffering a broken kneecap in...

Hard Knocks and 1JD Takeaways

Image
The week, Jet Nation has been waiting for is finally here.  The Jets were a favorite to be on Hard Knocks before Aaron Rodgers became the team's starting quarterback, and once he announced his decision to play for the Jets it was essentially inevitable.  Despite trying to fight it, the NFL forced the Jets' hand, and the first episode was released at 10 p.m. ET on 8/8.  The Jets' in-house version of Hard Knocks, 1 Jets Drive, released their first episode the day before at 8pm ET on YouTube, giving Jet fans the content they've been fiending for all offseason. Compared to Hard Knocks, 1JD was a flop.  While they didn't shy away from the team's championship aspirations, the only things I specifically remember wereAlijah Vera-Tucker talking about coming back from his injury and Method Man showing up at practice.  I would've loved to see more behind-the-scenes interviews that Hard Knocks didn't have access to, as well as an explanation on how they're handl...

Hall of Fame Game Recap

Image
University of Cincinnati graduate, Sauce Gardner Jet football is officially back.  Not much matters in the Hall of Fame game as no starters play and key backups only play a handful of snaps.  However, in the last post, we highlighted three key things we wanted to see from the Jets and we have recapped those as well as talked about some other positives/negatives from the game.  Be on the lookout later in the week for an article about key players we'll be watching in the second preseason game! 2023 first-round pick, Will McDonald Three Keys Review Zach Wilson:  The former number 2 overall pick got the start for the Jets and looks to be backup for his childhood idol, Aaron Rodgers. Wilson didn't play much but he absolutely showed signs of progress, never forcing the issue and operating within the offense.  The training camp reports of Wilson have been mostly positive but those come with a grain of salt so seeing progress from him in an actual football game w...

Rodgers pay cut, Sean Payton's comments, and the Hall of Fame Game

Image
Welcome to  The Flight to Glory , our series where we'll write about everything Jets.  Today, we'll be discussing the bad man's historic pay cut, Sean Payton's comments, and what we want to see this Thursday during the Hall of Fame game vs. the Browns. Let's get into it. The Rodger's Pay Cut: Acquiring a player with a resumé like Aaron Rodgers was bound to have a massive impact on the team. Every practice there are multiple reports that Rodgers is pulling aside players and mentoring them.  Whether it's explaining to the offensive players how he approaches a drill or pulling aside members of the secondary to explain what he saw pre-snap, Rodgers has been an invaluable asset to a young team with Super Bowl aspirations. On top of this, the often scrutinized QB has created an opportunity to make another massive impact and did something Packer fans never would've expected from their long-time QB: he took a pay cut.  Taking a pay cut is a play straight out o...
